Everyone knows the date of June 6, 1944 . But getting to grips with this historic moment, treading on these beaches which were the scene of the greatest amphibious and airborne operation of all time… it's moving in a different way. You can proceed according to your inspiration and your knowledge of history, or prefer to rely on the guides you will find on site. Each place was the scene of a historical event of truly incredible magnitude, of adventures and human dramas whose full emotion is still palpable, without it being possible, however, to really imagine what those who landed in Normandy that day.

Relive D-Day

Ouistreham (Sword Beach) hosts the Museum of the Atlantic Wall which, presenting the entire system as it existed in 1944, can be a good introduction, a starting point for other beaches. It is also on this beach that Commander Kieffer and his men landed, and where the ceremonies commemorating the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings were organized in 2014. Courseulles-sur-Mer (Juno Beach), assigned to the Canadians, in saw 14,000 land, with 9,000 British, all suffering heavy casualties. The Juno Beach Center retraces every moment.

Arromanches, in the exact center of the landing zone (10 km from the hotel), saw the construction of an artificial port of which certain vestiges remain. The Landing Museum will put you at the very heart of the action, thanks to its circular cinema: Arromanches 360 .

Colleville-sur-Mer ( Omaha Beach ) is home to the American Cemetery.
Since 1956, 9387 tombstones lined up in an area of ​​70 hectares evoke the sacrifice of American soldiers on this beach where the Landings could have failed on this beach overhung by German batteries. The Visitor Center, the Overlord Museum (a collection of more than 10,000 exhibits, some of which are staged life-size: vehicles, tanks, guns, etc.) and the Omaha Beach Memorial Museum will quench your thirst for further learning. To see the authentic B-26 bomber, you will push on to Sainte-Marie-du-Mont ( Utah Beach ).
